An article that was published in the Lubbock Evening Journal on 16 Apr 1947 titled “State’s Guards Is Alerted for Duty In Area ” discussing how 150 Texas State Guardsmen responded to the Texas City Disaster from Houston and League City and Houston. The Texas City Disaster was chain of explosions and fire that spread into a chemical corporation and caused hundreds of deaths and required martial law to be imposed.
