The Center for State Defense Force History is a department of The State Guard & Defense Force Council, also known as StateDefenseForce.com. The Council traces its roots back to 2005, when it began as HomeGuardArmory.com—a small but dedicated website sharing news and updates on State Defense Force missions and training events across the nation. Over the years, it evolved into a national non-profit organization devoted to strengthening, developing, and supporting State Defense Forces. Today, the Council assists state and federal lawmakers by promoting legislation that enhances these forces, advises on organizational standards, and recommends national guidelines for uniforms, structure, and readiness programs.
As part of this broader mission, The Center for State Defense Force History is dedicated to preserving, documenting, and sharing the legacy of State Defense Forces from World War I through their centennial in 2017. The Center curates mission reports, evaluation studies, historical records, newspaper clippings, scholarly articles, and photographs that collectively capture the history and impact of these citizen-soldiers. Each document and artifact honors their service while providing valuable insight into the role State Defense Forces have played in safeguarding communities and strengthening the nation. Supported through our Patreon membership, The Center continues to expand its archive and educational outreach, ensuring that the contributions of generations past remain accessible for researchers, historians, and the American public.
