Our Mission Statement:
The Center for State Defense Force History is dedicated to preserving, documenting, and sharing the century-long legacy of America’s State Defense Forces. Our mission is to locate, restore, and digitize a hundred years’ worth of historical materials—including mission reports, after-action summaries, evaluation documents, organizational records, photographs, and films—spanning from 1917 to 2017. Through this effort, we ensure that the courage, service, and sacrifice of State Defense Force soldiers are never lost to the sands of time but preserved for future generations to cherish. By creating a permanent digital archive, we honor those who defended their communities and their nation during the most turbulent moments in U.S. history, allowing both today’s State Defense Force soldiers and the American public to remember and celebrate their enduring legacy.
