The Texas Guardsman Magazine from December of 1943. The Texas Guardsman was a monthly publication by the Texas State Guard Officers Association. In this edition you will find articles on:
- Guard Ready to Tackle Tougher Missions conceived by Commanding General Knickerbocker a program of alert planning and mobilization training exercises for all fifty-one Battalions. These exercises identified strengths and weaknesses of the Guard.
- Four battalions from Houston and one battalion from Galveston fought what was known locally as the Second Battle of San Jacinto on 30-31 October. The friendly forces were the 2nd, 7th and 48th Marine Battalions and the enemy force was the 22nd
- Recruiting Drive Expected to Net Nearly 10,00 Men as State Guard Week was successful in recruiting in every part of the State. Not only was recruiting successful but friends were gained in industry and official circles that could help the Guard in the future.
