The Texas Guardsman – October 1945
The Texas Guardsman Magazine from October of 1945. The Texas Guardsman was a monthly publication by the Texas State Guard Officers Association. In this edition you will find articles on:
- 39th Wakes Up Lubbock with one of the most colorful and successful recruiting drives in their history that was held from 8 to 14 July. This recruiting drive was geared towards WWII Veterans. The Postmaster gave them permission to set up tents and display equipment on the lawn of the Federal Post Office.
- East Texas Battalions Attend Guard School that was held by the 8th Service Command for the 32nd Battalion of Longview, 33rd Battalion of Tyler and 23rd Battalion of Henderson. Course were conducted by Army Instructors.
- Guard Helps Celebrate Mexican Independence Day in the international celebration held in Mission on 16 September. Commanding General Knickerbocker led the Guard delegation for the second straight year. Texas State Guard equipment made up most of the parade.
