Article that was published in the 12 August 1941 edition of the Crenshaw-Mesa Southwest Wave titled: California State Guard Plans Regiment of Engineers For Emergency. According to Col, Ernest N. Wilcox this was the first time that an Engineer Regiment was established in the Los Angles Area in the California State Guard. Enlistments were accepted at the State Armory on Wednesday nights for Engineer Specialists.
