The Iowa Guardsman Magazine from January/February 1943. The Iowa Guardsman was the official publication of the Iowa State Guard. The Iowa Guardsmen was published bi-monthly and was edited by Maj. B.L. Williams. In this edition you will find articles on:

  1. Article on The First Military Police Battalion at Camp Dodge will disband on March 15th after just one year of Service. 22 Officers and 206 enlisted men will be affected that will either be discharged or transferred to home units. This was decided by the Governor and Guard Commanders.
  2. Article on Thirty-six officers of the Iowa State Guard that attended two schools at Fort Leonard Wood in January. Both schools were 10 days in duration and started on 9 and 23 January. 150 officers from various Iowa State Guard units and 7th Service Command attended the schools.
  3. Article on the Ten Commandments for Good Leadership starting with there are no born leaders. The list starts with confidence and ability and with earned respect and trust. This list came from the Infantry Journal.
  4. Article on new Battalion Commanders being named for the first battalion of both the 1st and 2nd Regiments. The vacancies were filled by two successful Company Commanders, Capt. Oliver Reilly and Capt. Charles Stryker.
